Sven van Gestel

House photographer at 'Caviar de la Nuit'

The career of Sven started about 12 years ago, capturing DJs in need of promotional photos. He had some good friends who were already well-known in the music industry, making it easy to get them in front of the lens. The momentum quickly built up, and to this day, photographing artists in the studio remains a significant part of his work.

Shortly thereafter, he started photographing events. Fortunately, he managed to establish connections with several highly regarded event agencies, allowing him to capture incredible events both domestically and internationally over the years.

Sven has photographed different types of events in the past. He explains: “Through collaborations with event agencies, I've mainly focused on corporate events. The diversity in such events, ranging from product launches to team-building activities and overseas incentives, keeps the work interesting. In the past, more than now, I also photographed festivals, including shooting for Tomorrowland for a few years. It was incredibly enjoyable but demanding work. Additionally, I often capture weddings, as wedding days are rich with emotions, resulting in precious photos.”

Introducing creativity into a photo can be achieved in various ways. Sven clarifies: “As a photographer, choosing whether to capture a photo up close with a wide-angle lens or from a distance with a telephoto lens is a constant decision.” Moreover, he enjoys experimenting with long exposures and a 'hard flash.’ This approach produces photos reminiscent of the ones seen in the 90s when cameras were not as advanced as they are today.

We were curious how Sven captures the atmosphere of an event like 'Caviar' in his photos. He explains to us that in nightlife photography, the atmosphere is often defined by the available light. The challenge lies in balancing the available light and flash effectively. “I enjoy the contrast-rich 'paparazzi-style photography.' When I started photographing at 'Caviar de la Nuit,' it took some time to find the right approach. Unlike other events, privacy is a focus of attention on such nights, and you don't want to intrude with constant flashes. However, I've found my way around it. I always try to ask couples for permission (through eye contact) before taking their photos.”

To conclude, Sven shares his favorite ‘Caviar de la Nuit’ location: “This is undoubtedly the Castle event. With its various rooms, large chandeliers, and two floors with a beautiful staircase, this castle truly embodies the grandeur that an event like Caviar requires.”

Fun Facts

Massage

During 'Innocence', upcoming Saturday, we welcome a new masseuse! Enjoy a relaxing moment between dancing and connecting, and unwind with a back, neck, and shoulder massage.

Calling all ladies; don't miss out on our special treat: a blissful foot massage just for you!

Whoops...

At the last Gold Member event, 'Soirée d'Or,' we encountered a frosty situation; our freezer decided it needed a spontaneous vacation.

Sadly, this meant our grand plans of treating you all to delicious ice creams melted away.

Talk about a chilly letdown! Ice cream dreams dashed, but fear not, we're determined to scoop up some extra sweetness at our next event! 🍦

Book of love

Have you ever noticed the intriguing 'Book of Love'?

Since the very first edition, this book has been an integral element of 'Caviar de la Nuit' at every event. We encourage you to share your stories, fantasies, or feedback by penning them down in this unique memento. Your contributions will craft a distinct moment within the pages of our collection.

Let’s talk about...!

by Sarah

First and foremost, my warmest wishes for a loving and exciting 2024! A new year signifies a new beginning. As a couple, it's an opportune moment to reflect on your relationship. How did the past year unfold? Consider the enjoyable and less enjoyable moments, what went well or not so well, what strengthened or hindered you as a couple, and what valuable lessons you've learned. Identify the possibilities and challenges that lie ahead, and discern what is needed for your growth together. Whether you're a new or more experienced couple, embracing a non-monogamous lifestyle always has an impact on your relationship, making it even more crucial to engage in open discussions.

A common question that arises is how to prevent jealousy from arising and how to cope when the green monster rears its head. Jealousy is a universal emotion that can affect all relationships to varying degrees. The key is to recognize and acknowledge it. Taking the crucial first step of admitting your struggle with jealousy is essential. While jealousy is unpleasant, it's normal. It's a human emotion, akin to anger, to which even non-monogamists are not immune. View it primarily as a signal that something isn't right for you and needs addressing. Pretending it's not there is futile and only exacerbates the issue. Acknowledge its presence; what matters is taking it seriously and taking steps to address it.

Understand that you are not your emotion, and the other person is not to blame for your emotion. Acknowledge that you may feel jealous in a specific context and take responsibility for that emotion. Approach conversations about jealousy with your partner from a place of vulnerability rather than blame. It's crucial to explore what lies behind the jealousy, which could be related to various factors like fear of loss, inferiority, insecurity, envy, exclusion, loss of connection, or feeling not good enough. The better you comprehend your triggers, reactions, and underlying emotions, the easier and more effective it becomes to find ways to cope with jealousy.

Of course, all of this requires time, practice, and extensive mutual conversation. As you gain a better understanding of your own "manual" and that of your partner, the process becomes quicker over time. Eventually, you might find that when faced with a new trigger, you recognize your patterns and immediately know how to respond effectively. This leads to a deeper level of connection, both individually and as a couple. The effort is undoubtedly worthwhile 😊

If you wish to continue working on this theme, I would be delighted to personally reach out to you to discuss the possibilities.

Love, Sarah

We are looking forward to welcoming you to one of the upcoming 'Caviar' events!

With love,

Beau & Chloé
