We want to translate this into a wonderfully wild dress code. Think animal prints, luxurious faux furs, and alluring accessories like bunny ears and feathers. Marc Verhees
Marc began his journey as a photographer with a hobby that quickly spiraled into passion. Reflecting on his origins, Marc recalls, "I initially purchased a semi-professional camera for leisure and started snapping pictures for a friend who worked as a DJ, tagging along to his gigs frequently. It was during my internship for the Hotel Management program in Canada that I had the chance to hone my photography skills at various hotel events. The combination of these experiences ignited my interest in event photography, prompting me to delve deeper into the craft.
"Upon returning to the Netherlands, I found myself immersed in the vibrant nightlife of Rotterdam. From there, my photography career blossomed, transitioning from small-scale events to some of Europe's largest festivals. Alongside my work in the events realm, I ventured into corporate photography, spanning from corporate events to interior, product, and portrait photography."
His expertise in photography is entirely self-taught. He elaborates, "Over the past eight years, I've honed my skills through relentless practice. It all began with experimenting with candlelight in dimly lit rooms. I then took to the streets, spending countless nighttime hours in picturesque cities to master low-light situations. I even conducted experiments with friends and family during daylight hours. Watching numerous YouTube tutorials played a significant role in my learning journey."
Marc finds joy in the diversity of photography. He shares, "One moment, I may be capturing portraits for a cutting-edge company, and the next, I'm amidst a massive festival photographing world-renowned DJs. Personally, I thrive on variety and challenge, eagerly embracing any photographic opportunity that comes my way, regardless of prior experience."
He views challenges as opportunities for creativity. "I never back down from a challenge; instead, I explore its possibilities. In dimly lit environments, auxiliary lighting can be employed, but often, the darkness of the setting adds a unique ambiance to the photograph."
Having photographed five editions of Caviar de la Nuit, Marc has captured a plethora of images. He explains, "The events of Caviar are incredibly diverse, yet consistently centered around sensuality. That's why my favorite shots often focus on intricate details of luxurious lingerie or captivating moments of sensual interaction between individuals, resulting in alluring images."
